From 05/06/2008: Visas for foreign students holding an I-20 (F-1/F-2) is suspended.

From 04/02/2008: non-US citizens can only apply for a single entry visa, with a 30-day duration of stay.

Special requirement

If you use your non US passport to apply for visa, you must show evidence that you entered US legelly. Please provide one or more of the following:

a visa on your passport that you used to enter US. If it is not on your current passport, please provide a copy;
a copy of green card (if you are a green card holder);
a copy of I-20 or other immgration documents to show your legal status in US.

If you have dual citizenship, and you want to use your non US passport, you must also have evidence on your non US passport showing that you entered US legally. Your US passport cannot be used as evidence to support your visa application. The reason is that US does not officially recognize dual citizenship. We understand that this requirement will prevent most people from using their non US passports. We had mixed success when people apply visa using non US passport but supply a copy of their US passport. In case your application is denied, we will still charge the service fee.
